Assistant Chief Ronnie W Warren states:
On Sunday, January 15, 2012 at approximately 3:20am, the Fort Payne Police Department received an alarm at Lowe’s Home Improvement 1600 Glenn Blvd SW. Upon officer’s arrival they met the key holder and the key holder stated to officer’s that he had checked the store at approximately 2:50 am for a motion alarm in the receiving area at the rear of the store.
Officer’s then made entry into the store and found damage to office doors. Officers then called for additional back up. Officer’s viewed video and discovered that apparently two subjects had made entry into the store. Additional officers arrived at the store and a perimeter was set up of the exterior of the store.
Officers at this point began a search of the store and during the search officers heard what appeared to be someone walking on the roof. A perimeter officer spotted what appeared to be a black male on top of the store front. The subject was contacted verbally but disappeared back on the roof. After a brief negotiation the subject appeared at the rear of the store near an access ladder and officers ordered the subject down the ladder where he was taken into custody without incident.
Officers then accessed the roof and after a thorough search it is believed that another subject escaped the rooftop before officer’s arrival.
The subject taken into custody was identified as 31 year old black male Timothy Henderson Jr., of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was charged with 3rd Degree Burglary.
The Fort Payne Police Department was assisted by Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office, Rainsville Police Department and the Fort Payne Fire Department.
