Chief of Detectives Mike Grant States:

 

On Friday July 9, Fort Payne Police Investigators Michael Grant, Andy Hairston and Assistant Chief Randy Bynum traveled to 1348 Buckley Drive East in Fort Payne to investigate a possible illegal outdoor marijuana grow. On arrival officers made contact with home owner, Donald Childes Durant. Det. Grant reported that in plain view were 42 marijuana plants being grown in various size containers. The plants are valued at $84,000.00. After being given permission to enter the home, a small amount of drug paraphernalia was found. Officers stated the offender was growing the marijuana for personal use. Warrants were obtained on the subject and he turned himself in, he is charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was released on $3500.00 bond.
