Assistant Chief Randy Bynum states:
At approximately 5:38 pm on Thursday July 8th a one vehicle accident occurred at the bottom of Wallace Avenue also known locally as Joe’s Truck Stop. Glenn Dewayne Alston, age 41 of Memphis Tn., was driving a 2007 Mack truck, owned by WSE Transportation out of Elm Springs AR., when he lost control of his vehicle and it overturned. The truck was loaded with Bud Light Beer. The cleanup of the cargo started at 6:30 pm and crews worked until 2:00am. They started back Friday morning cleaning the site and cleanup lasted about 10 hours. The driver was taken to Dekalb Regional by Dekalb Ambulance Service and was listed in fair condition. Fort Payne Fire Department, EMA, Fisher Rescue Squad and Fort Payne Police Department provided lights for the cleanup. The accident is still under investigation. |
