The city has five public parks, along with a public pool, scattered across the city limits:


  • City Parks:
    • Depot Park:
      Located just across the railroad tracks from the old Railroad Depot. The Park is passive in nature and provides open greenspace and concrete walkways.
    • Douglas Community Park:
      Located in the Douglas community on Godfrey Avenue South . The Park consists of a baseball/softball field , playground equipment, and an outdoor basketball court.
    • Hawkins Spring Park:
      Located at the foot of Lookout Mountain just off Highway 35 close to "Joe’s Truckstop". Hawkins Spring Park features our most elaborate playground structure which came from Fort Payne’s very own Gametime plant. The park also consists of a stream and picnic shelter complete with restroom facilities.
    • Spring Grove Park:
      Located behind the Dekalb County Council on Aging Building on Turner Avenue South .The Park includes a mini-amphitheater, fitness stations, and garden areas.
    • Union Park (City Park):
      Located downtown on Gault Avenue across from the Dekalb Theater. Union Park features playground equipment , gazebo , picnic shelter , restrooms , basketball court , tennis court , and beautiful Gingko Trees . Union Park also plays host to the "Christmas in the Park Celebration" every December.
